Dr. Jean-Pierre Blaize joined AO Multispecialty Clinic in fall 2021.  He is a graduate of Kennesaw State University and Meharry Medical College and fulfilled his residency at Augusta University (formerly Medical College of Georgia, also known as MCG).  Dr. Blaize completed his Medical Oncology and Hematology fellowship at the University of Texas San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Born in Trinidad, Dr. Blaize spent his adolescent years in Barbados before immigrating to the United States with his family at age 15 and settling in Atlanta, GA.  “From an early age I was exposed to under-served communities in which access to healthcare was difficult to obtain and rarely affordable,” said Dr. Blaize.  “It was from this setting that my motivation to become a doctor emerged.”

His parents have been his greatest influences growing up. As an engineer, Dr. Blaize’s father never missed a day of work and his mother, a flight attendant, always embodied professionalism in her work. These attributes have always served as a powerful example to Dr. Blaize.

As he had spent several years in Augusta completing his residency, Dr. Blaize already held a deep appreciation for the town and people here.  “I love the rich history and culture of the city and am excited at the opportunity to return and rejoin the community.”

One of Dr. Blaize’s favorite quotes is by William Osler:  “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”  In this spirit, he is especially grateful for the connections made when helping patients navigate through such a life-altering time and values the trust placed in him to guide them. He loves empowering patients to understand their disease and treatment.

When not at work, Dr. Blaize enjoys being active by swimming and boxing. He also loves to watch soccer, cricket, and basketball.  His other hobbies include listening to music, traveling, and opportunities to immerse himself in new cultures.

Dr. Blaize is now accepting new patients at our Downtown Augusta office, as well as at AO Multispecialty Clinic.
