Tamara Coleman joined the AO Multispecialty Clinic team as a nurse practitioner in 2021.  She earned her Masters in Nursing and as her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Augusta University.

Cancer has personally impacted Tamara in many ways.  “After watching both my grandfathers battle cancer and losing a dear friend to melanoma,” said Tamara, “I knew that I wanted to dedicate my professional life to serving those with cancer.  I love seeing the strength and resilience of our patients.”

Tamara and her family moved around often as she was growing up, as her father was in the Army.  However, she credits that transient lifestyle for sparking her current love of travel.  “I’m very grateful to have been given the opportunity to be raised in diverse environments and exposed to different cultures.”  Augusta was a natural choice when it came to settling down with her partner, daughter, and their “fur babies.”  It’s where her family is originally from and where Tamara’s parents retired.

Tamara enjoys spending time with her loved ones, traveling (spontaneous day trips are a favorite), and kayaking and hiking with her family.  She also has a deep love for animals – if she had chosen any other career path, she would be a wildlife or marine biologist.

MLK Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” and Tamara hopes that her own life “is a reflection of my desire to serve other people.”

Tamara is now seeing new patients at our AO Multispecialty Clinic location.
